Rabbi Eliezer Eidelman, Manchester England
Reb Volf would write detailed letters to the Rebbe about bochurim and would always recieve replies. once he wrote a letter and did not receive a reply. after that was yud shevat and he came to the Rebbe. then he went in for yechidus, he told the Rebbe he had written a letter and had not received a reply. the Rebbe asked him when did you write the letter so he told the Rebbe when it was, the Rebbe said oh it came after rosh chodesh shevat, from rosh chodesh shevat i am busy with yud shevat. Reb Volf told over this story in a farbrengen early winter 5739.Reb Volf once saw a private hanhogo by the Rebbe, he asked the Rebbe where the source for it is, the Rebbe said עס שטייט דאך אין קצות השולחן. this was probably said by a tanya shiur.shabbos before chof cheshvan 5739 the Rebbe came into 770 during seder chassidus before davening. in Montreal by the chof cheshvan farbrengen, Rabbi greenglass told the bochurim you think that because you are here in Montreal you can be happy that the Rebbe didn't come into zal to check on you?!? the Rebbe was here in zal more than he was there. Reb Volf explained it with this story, someone who needed to come to the Rebbe, suggested to the Rebbe he will come at a certain time one evening, the Rebbe answered that he is not able to because there is a chuppa at that time. he said to the Rebbe that the heard that the Rebbe is not mesader kidddushin. the Rebbe said in such a case i am there more.
